14th HRT Weekend in Baguio set October 4-6

BAGUIO CITY – The private-led Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB) lined up simple but meaningful activities for the 14th edition of the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism (HRT) Weekend on October 4-6, 2018.
The theme of this year’s festivities is “Learn to Win” where thousands of students and professionals in the culinary industry will be in the city to compete in the various discipline of culinary arts to showcase their skills and talents that will lift image of the industry as a whole.
The 14th edition of the HRT Weekend starts on Saturday, September 22, with the offering of the 18-ton Largest Wedding Cake to the 43 couples that will be wed during the Kasalan ng Bayan and the public in general at the SM City Baguio.
On September 23, the talent completion of the Search for Mr. and Miss HRAB will be conducted at the SM City Baguio Atrium to be followed by the pre-pageant night on September 30, 2018 at the Cordillera Convention Hall of the Baguio Country Club.
Further, the Coronation Night of the Search for Mr. and Miss HRAB will be held at the BCC Cordillera Convention Hall on October 4, 2018 that will highlight the start of various events that have been lined up for this year’s staging of the HRT Weekend.
The HRAB Got Talent too will be held at the CAP John Hay Trade and Cultural Center on October 5.
On October 4-6, 2018, the various culinary competitions, jobs fair, trade fair and seminars will be simultaneously conducted at the CAP John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Baguio Country Club and SM City Baguio.
Moreover, the International Plastic Modellers Society-7th Anthony de Leon Cup will be held on October 4-6, 2018 at the Wolfson Room of the Baguio Country Club aside from the Dailystance Baguio CarShow which will be held on similar dates at the Cordillera Convention Hall of the Baguio Country Club.
The awarding of the winners and closing ceremonies of this year’s HRT Weekend will be held on October 6, 7pm, at the Cordillera Convection Hall of the Baguio Country Club.
HRAB president and BCC general manager Anthony de Leon said participating culinary professionals from the city’s only exclusive club are out to defend their title in the different culinary competitions that have been lined up during the 3-day HRT Weekend for them to have the chance to represent the city in the upcoming National Food Showdown and other similar international culinary competitions.
Last year, HRAB skipped the conduct of the annual HRT Weekend because it focused its available resources on the city’s hosting of the visit of the Miss Universe candidates that helped in promoting Baguio city as one of the country’s preferred tourist destination.
The 250-member HRAB has been one of the city’s aggressive private sector partners in helping promote the country’s undisputed Summer Capital as a must-see destination in the country because of its natural air-conditioning aside from its available scenic tourist destinations that entice foreign and domestic visitors to frequent the city.
