8TH SABLAN FRUIT FESTIVAL

Local residents and visitors were treated to free fruits as part of the 8th Sablan Fruit Festival over the weekend. Despite the lesser fruits harvested this year, the municipality of Sablan celebrated the Fruit Festival from September 2 to 4, 2022. Sablan Mayor Alfredo Dacumos Jr. said that the municipality pushed thru with the activities of the Fruit Festival this year to continue to showcase the municipality as the “fruit capital of Benguet.” Dacumos explained that this year’s festivities were affected by the recent weather disturbances and the early onset of rains which led to the lesser fruits harvested for the annual event.

He said that the local government will look into moving the annual festivities to other months or prior to the onset of the rainy season. The festival was highlighted with the Fresh Fruit Medley presentation and serving which was opened by the local officials led by Mayor Dacumos and Vice Mayor Arthur Baldo with Vice Governor Ericson Felipe and Governor Melchor Diclas represented by Executive Assistant David Cabuten and guests from the sister municipalities of Guam. Local farmers and entreprenuers also had a chance to sell their locally produced fruits to the pubic during the Agro-Industrial
