Members of the Itneg tribe from at least 20 municipalities of Abra proudly wear their traditional attires and enjoy their ‘tadek’ (native dance) in a ‘Lay-og’ (remembering the dead) which is followed by a festivity. Each municipal delegation rendered a ‘dung-aw’ asking for ancestors to guide the family and the members of the tribe who will travel back to their homes after the activity.
This celebration also aims to keep the Tingguian culture alive and to reunite and reconnect with family and members of the tribe. Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency deputy director general for
Administration ASEC. Israel Ephraim Dickson, whose clan hosted the said gathering, is among the attendees of the Lay-og held in San Juan, Abra on Friday, January 12, 2024.
