BAGUIO CITY
Various groups including Solid North partylist are sending aid to storm-battered and flood-soaked Cagayanos. Cagayan, hit by three strong typhoons in the past two weeks, displaced thousands of families and damaged agriculture and caused a huge dent on its economy, especially agriculture. The Solid North Partylist began reaching out a helping hand to Cagayanos, “for them to cope up, though temporary, while they are recovering from the damages,” said League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) national president and La Paz, Abra Mayor JB Bernos.
Mayor Bernos, also the President of Solid North Partylist said, his group proceeded first to the Gattaran, Lal-lo and Baggao towns, and will also bring relief goods and aid like rice supplies to families in Buguey, Sta. Anna, Aparri and other towns in Cagayan. Large areas in Cagayan remains flooded several days after Pepito swelled the Cagayan River.
“It is our responsibility to take care of our brothers/sisters in the North, whenever we can,” Mayor Bernos stressed.
Meanwhile, volunteers of the Philippine Red Cross braved the flood waters in Enrile town to bring relief goods to the
residents. Other 29 chapters of the humanitarian aid agency are also at other towns bringing “hope” to flood victims.
