All 6 COVID-19 patients from Benguet and Abra recover

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Apr.17 (PIA) – All the six COVID-19 patients from the provinces of Benguet and Abra provinces are now discharged from health facilities after recovering from the disease.
Thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff for their dedication, courage and hard work.
Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas said that as of April 12, all the three confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province have recovered and were sent their homes and families.
Diclas together with the Benguet General Hospital officials led by Hospital Chief Dr. Meliarazon Dulay had a simple send-off ceremony for Sharon Caparas of Bokod town after being discharged from the hospital on Black Saturday, April 11.
Caparas, 34-year old helper domestic helper from Hong Kong, is the second COVID-19 positive patient who recovered from the disease in the province.
She received a result of her second swab test which yielded a negative result on April 8 and she was officially out of the hospital on April 11.
The third patient, a 40-year old male who came from Region 3, was discharged and sent home on Easter Sunday from the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Centre(BGHMC) after testing negative of the COVID-19 virus.
The first COVID-19 patient to recover is a six-year old girl from La Trinidad who had travel history in CALABARZON.
For Abra, Patients AC2 and AC3, a son and his father from Sallapadan town were discharged from confinement at the BGHMC today (April 17).
They are the 9th and 10th patients of BGHMC that have recovered and were happily sent off by hospital staff led by Medical Center chief Dr. Ricardo Nunez Jr.
Patient AC3 is 74 years old and has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was confined at the BGHMC on April 3 together with his son who was admitted earlier after testing positive of the COVID-19. The father and son are close relatives of AC1.
Abra Governor Jocelyn Bernos announced that patient AC1, the seafarer from Manabo town who was the first COVID-19 patient of the province and the Cordillera region, already completed his 14-day quarantine after discharge after recovering from COVID-19.
With the recovery of these patients from Abra and Benguet, only Baguio City is left with active COVID cases.
As of 5:00PM of April 16, 2020, the DOH-CAR reported a total of 24 confirmed cases with 17 of them recovered and one dead.
The provinces of Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province remain COVID-19 -free.
