BAGUIO CITY COMMEMORATES 128TH RIZAL DAY

BAGUIO CITY

The city government of Baguio will spearhead the commemoration of the 128th Anniversary of the Heroism of Dr. Jose P. Rizal at the Rizal Monument at Burnham Park at exactly 8:00AM on Monday, December 30, 2024. The commemoration will kick off with a flag raising ceremony to be led by the Philippine Military Academy and the Baguio City Hall Choir. PMA Superintendent Vice Admiral Caesar Valencia, the guest of honor and speaker, with city officials headed by Congressman Mark Go, Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan will lead the wreath laying.

Barangay officials of Rizal Monument Barangay as well as other civil society organizations, institutions and stakeholders will also be joining the wreath laying honors. The PMA will then lead the traditional sound of four ruffles with the Three Volley Fire or the 21-gun salute, the playing of the taps and the presentation of completion honors. For the second part of the program, the Rizal Monument Barangay officials will lead the national prayer or the “Pambansang Panalangin ng Pagsasakatuparan sa Panata ni Rizal at ng Katipunan sa Puri at Kabanalan ng Lahing Pilipino.”

This will be followed by the Cordillera hymn and the Baguio City hymn to be led by the Baguio City Hall Choir.
Cong. Go will deliver the opening and his Rizal Day message, followed by Mayor Magalong. The activity will be highlighted by the keynote message by PMA Supt. Valencia. Rizal Day, observed annually on December 30th, commemorates the life and legacy of Dr. Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines.
