BAGUIO CITY DREAMING TO BUILD MORE SOCIALIZED HOUSING TO PLUG ITS BACKLOGS

BAGUIO CITY

The Baguio City government is looking for more lots measuring not less than 3,000 square meters to implement more housing projects for its homeless constituents under the “Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing” or 4PH Project of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban
Development (DHSUD). Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said that apart from the pioneering Luna Terraces which is currently underway in Irisan barangay and the Topinao Housing
Project which had its groundbreaking recently, the city is eyeing at least three other sites for more such project to address the city’s housing backlog.

Lot offers may be forwarded to the City Administrator’s Office or call 074-442-5497. The recently launched Topinao project at Sitio Topinao, barangay Poblacion Tuba, Benguet is envisioned as a township development project to benefit a total of 5,500 grantees. It is the city’s second socialized permaculture housing project next to the ongoing Luna Terraces project in Irisan barangay which will have a total of 260 units also made possible through the help of the DHSUD and the National
Housing Authority (NHA).

The mayor expressed gratitude to the DHSUD for its consistent support to the city government in its housing ventures to address its backlog. Magalong said the city targets the construction of multi-level buildings that will accommodate 8,000-10,000 families in various sites. Baguio City is continually working on the acquisition of lots for its housing projects. For the Topinao project, Magalong thanked DHSUD chief Jose Acuzar and his staff for their tireless support during the planning and development stages of the project.

He also cited the local government of Tuba town under Mayor Clarita Sal-ongan for their
“cooperation and collaboration between both our LGUs have been vital in facilitating the implementation of this housing project.” Magalong stressed the importance of this housing project which extends beyond the physical structures seen during the groundbreaking. “It symbolizes hope, progress, and the tireless efforts of our city government and community. It is a testament to our collective determination to build a better future, one that encompasses the well-being and dignity of every resident of Baguio.”
