BAGUIO CITY (September 10, 2021) – The Baguio City Health Services Office (HSO) announced that as of 5:00 PM Thursday, Baguio has 249 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections, the city’s new highest number of cases in a day breaking the previous record of 227 cases in April 22, 2021.

The city as of September 9, 2021 also recorded six Covid 19-related deaths bringing the total deaths to 366.  The total recoveries in the city is 16,908.
Meanwhile, HSO’s City Epidemiology Surveilance Officer (CESO) Dr. Donnabel Tubera-Panes reveals that they are looking on the possible 700 more cases with the delta variant in the coming days.   She revealed that the possible number is based from the contact tracing done on the people who have been in contact with the 13 individuals who were found out to be infected with the variant.
Recently, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said that the delta variant will be the dominant variant driving the current surge of Covid 19 cases in the city.   He cited the data from the city’s contact tracing  showing a total 732 cases linked to the 13 delta variant cases. He said because of this, the city employs more proactive measures to prevent the further surge.
Panes said that one of the best measures is that each household should be coming up with a plan as a family. She said that with that, the fear and unnecessary panic will be avoided while each family members are well-prepared on what to do when worst comes to worst.
