The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) successfully apprehended a theft suspect in the early hours of June 16, 2025 at I-Shape McDonald’s, Upper Magsaysay Avenue, Kagitingan Barangay. A 30-year-old driver from La Trinidad, Benguet, fell victim to theft after meeting a 38- year-old woman who offered him a massage and surreptitiously stole his wallet from his sling bag. Upon noticing his missing wallet, the victim confronted the suspect who denied the accusation. The commotion alerted a police officer on routine patrol and immediately intervened to recover the stolen item.
Seized from the suspect was the wallet containing Php 910.00 in cash, a Driver’s License, National ID, Barangay ID, assorted photographs, a Cedula, TIN ID, and several receipts — all positively identified by the victim as his personal belongings. The incident underscores the crucial role of police visibility and proactive patrolling in deterring crime and maintaining public safety citywide. This is also BCPO’s commitment to one of the Chief, Philippine National Police PGEN NICOLAS D TORRE III 3 Key Pillars on swift and responsive service.
BCPO continues to advise the public to remain vigilant and alert to avoid falling victim to this type of modus operandi. “We commend
the swift action of our police officer, whose vigilance and dedication to duty led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the stolen property. This clearly reflects the effectiveness of our intensified anti-crime operations and our firm commitment to building a safer, crime-free Baguio City,” said PCol. Ruel D. Tagel, City Director.
