Baguio Youth Olympics set June 22

BAGUIO CITY – The city’s Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation headed by its president, councilor Levy Lloyd Orcales, conducted the Baguio Youth Olympics on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Baguio Athletic Bowl with Philippine Sports Commission chair William Ramirez as guest of honor and speaker.
Participants assembled at the City Hall grounds in the morning, followed by a parade to the venue and a program highlighted by speeches from Ramirez, Orcales and outgoing Mayor Mauricio Domogan.
The opening program included a torch relay, recitation of the oath of sportsmanship, unfurling of district teams banners and a field demonstration by the Junior Saint Louis University band.
Competition proper commenced after the program with the teams pitting their skills against each other in arm wrestling, patintero, and kadang-kadang including basketball, volleyball, badminton and judo.
The awarding ceremony ended the activity hosted by the SK federation-Baguio members Jenny Punzal and Mark Anthony Alvar.
The city’s SK Feredation is headed by councilor Orcales (South Central Aurora Hill barangay) as president with Van Paulo Sanchez (Brookspoint) as vicepresident.
Other officers include Carla Joy Cacho (Irisan), secretary; Eryj Jerl Dayote (Padre Burgos), treasurer; Jaime Apola (Loakan-Apugan),auditor; Jobelee Siagan (San Vicente), P.R.O.; and Reilloc Cabading of Ferdinand (Campo Sioco) barangay as sgt-at-arms.
