For the first time the Mutual Defense Board meeting was held inside the Philippine Military Academy at Fort del Pilar Baguio City. The meeting was spearheaded by Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner together with US Indo-Pacific Command Commander Admiral Samuel Paparo. The talks were to stablish the planning of the next Balikatan Exercises for 2025. Brawner said the exercises next year will concentrate on maritime conflicts. He also plans to integrate the PMA Cadets with the exercises to familiarize them earlier on.
Admiral Paparo meanwhile admired the Cadets willingness to engage in new innovations during his almost an hour time with them after their lunch break. He said more advanced missile technology will be incorporated in the events aside from the medium range missiles already acquired by the Philippine Military. Meanwhile the Philippines
will not ask for now a foreign escort in implementing the re-supply missions in the West Philippine Sea
while they exhaust all possible means necessary to deliver the good. Only when the soldiers in the field no
longer have any food to eat will be the time to seek foreign assistance.
