The local government of Bauang is one of the 13 LGUs in La Union with 95% functionality points, an awardee during the first National Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) performance award on December 28, 2018 at Tent City, Manila Hotel, Metro Manila.
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Eduardo M. Año delivered the welcome remarks and inspirational message.
“One of the president’s advocacy is the fight against illegal drugs and corruption. Illegal drugs destroy life, families and dreams. Crimes are made by people involved in drugs. Very soon, we will finish the war on drugs and this can only be achieved if everybody will help. We call on everybody to exert all efforts in the war on drugs to have a success story. This will be made possible with the help of the LGUs especially the local executives. They are the front liners in the campaign in the war on drugs,” he said.
He congratulated the 241 LGUs which supported the fight against drugs. He said that each mayor has exemplified his good intentions in helping the fight. He challenged them to sustain the gains.
He reminded everyone not to rest on their laurels but to focus on the job ahead and to help one another.
“As you go home, bring with you your renewed commitment of positive change in your own municipalities. Let us not stop working for the sake of the new generation. Congratulations in our success,” he added.
DILG, through the ADAC-PMO has completed the 2017 ADAC Performance Audit-National Calibration last December 10-12, 2018 with the ADAC National Audit Team finalizing the results submitted by the DILG Regional Offices after due deliberation.
The indicators for 2018 Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADACs) Performance Audit are the following: Indicator 1 is organized local CADAC/MADAC (10 points); Indicator 2, conduct of meetings (10 points); Indicator 3, allocation of funds for the implementation of anti-drug activities (15 points); Indicator 4, implementation of plans and programs (40 points); Indicator 5, support to component BADACs (20 points) where LGU Bauang provides 3 million fund for the POPS plan and 3.9 million for the livelihood program for the drug recovery fighters; and Indicator 6, innovations (5 points) which is Bauang’s CCTV Command Center, the 1st in La Union.
Out of 1,715 provinces, cities and municipalities, 241 LGUs garnered 85-100 points corresponding to an adjectival rating of Ideal (high functionality), with 21 LGUs achieving a perfect score of 100.
Agoo, Balaoan and San Gabriel obtained 100% functionality point. Other Province of La Union’s LGU awardees are: Aringay, Bacnotan, Burgos, Caba, Luna, Naguilian, Rosario, San Fernando City, San Juan, Santol, Sudipen, and Tubao. Region I has the most no. of awardees.
To represent Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. De Guzman III to receive the award were SBM George Picardal, ABC President Noel Gallardo, Payocpoc Sur Barangay Captain Virginia Ardina, Tourism and Information Officer Myrna Romero and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Officer Yolanda Vergara.
