Baguio – Benguet Community Credit Cooperation in partnership with Bureau of Plant Industry- Baguio National Corp Research, Development, and Production Support Center conduct a seminar on Urban Gardening at the BBCCC building, Assumption Road last August 10, 2023. Based on the subject provided, the first session is relevant to the introduction of the Bureau of Plant IndustryBNCRDPSC and the conservation and management of the soil.
It also tackles edible landscaping, Organic Vegetable Production, and Organic vegetable Formulation. According to Mr. Allan Frank Silva, the Vice Chairperson of the BBCCC Board of Directors and the automatic chairman of the Education Membership in Training Committee, this kind of seminar is to help their members develop their skills in different areas and to uplift their quality of life. He said in an interview, “In the barangays, they have this competition about
themselves in the landscaping that was organized by the LGU, so it is a good opportunity for them to learn more about this gardening.”
He also stated that there are many activities under Education Membership in Training Committee (EDCOM) like rug making, and baking and they are also exploring the agriculture area to help their
members and the community they were in. They are also expecting many kinds of activities for the following weeks for their members and the community. He also added that this is part of the social
development of BBCCC especially since they have the allocation for Cooperative, Education in Training as well as Cooperative Development.
In his last interview, he encourages all the members of the BBCCC and the members of the community to avail of their free seminars and training as they are trying their best to make them very accessible to all members to be able to improve the quality of living.
