BCC opens flower garden as city postpones Panagbenga

BAGUIO CITY – With the postponement of the holding of the annual Flower Festival’s top crowd drawing event, the Baguio Country Club has opened to the public the “BCC Blooms” where flower lovers can visit. The BCC Blooms showcases 14 entries of the landscaping competition of BCC’s divisions and department employees.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong, DOT-CAR officer-in- charge Jovi Ganongan and other officials formally opened the area for public viewing to temporarily replace the Market Encounter of the annual Panagbenga that opens every February 1.
“Ang purpose kung bakit namin ginawa ito ay para may ibang mapasyalan ang mga bisita ng BCC, mga turista na umaakyat at sa ating mga residente ay para sariwain natin ang tradisyun ng Panagbenga, knowing na muling na postpone ngayong taon dahil sa pandemya (we opened this purposely to provide a destination for locals and the touriata who come to the city and to remind ua of the traditions of Panagbenga ,” said BCC Communication Officer Andrew Pinero.
Pinero said the place now host the beautiful landscapes created by the employees.
“Nagbigay ng subsidy ang club sa mga participants at yoong iba na gustong palakihin at pagandahin ang kanilang entry ay nagdagdag na sila sa sariling bulsa at meron itong cash prize. (the club set aside an amount for the setting up and the teams added based on their requirement. The winners will receive a cash prize,” Pinero said.
Pinero said that recycled materials were used requiring that 85 percent are real plants and flowers. He said the attraction will stay until the club again prepares to set up the annual Christmas Village, also a favorite attraction.
“This is timely for the plantitos and plantitas because they will be able to get ideas from the landscapes.” He said they will also invite concessioners who will sell plants and flowers so that they can also buy from them. The BCC Blooms is the first this year and one of the two projects of the employees which are aimed at helping boost tourism in Baguio. BCC is led by General Manager Anthony de Leon who also chair the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation,Inc. (BFFFI).
