BCDA sets another 3-day PCR testing in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY – The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) will again conduct expanded testing for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) here from Oct. 26 to 28 which will benefit some 3,000 residents.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Wednesday said 1,900 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test kits will be for Baguio while 1,100 is allotted for Benguet. Benguet’s capital town La Trinidad will have 400. The municipalities of Tuba and Itogon will have 200 each, while Tublay, Sablan and Kapangan will have 100 each. Magalong said the original plan was for the city to have all 3,000 but some were allotted to the Benguet, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba, and Tublay (BLISTT), including Kapangan, upon the request of the mayors.
“We decided to share the test kits to our neighboring towns,” he said.
The expanded testing schedule in Baguio City is the third time from BCDA. The first was on Aug. 28 where 1,000 test kits were allotted, then the three-day testing last Sept. 17 to 19 for 3,000 residents of BLISTT.
As of October 21, Baguio City has done 53,392 testing and 6,000 for rapid antigen test or a total of 59,392 or 16.05 percent testing rate based on the 370,000 population.
