BCPO ASSURES SAFETY OF RESIDENTS, TOURISTS

The leadership of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) assured the safety of both residents and tourists amidst the turnover of officers over the past several days in preparation for the upcoming conduct of the city’s major crowd drawing event and the May 12, 2025 midterm elections. BCPO City Director Police Col. Ruel Tagel said that the
transfer of police officers is a regular routine in the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Former Deputy City Director for Administration Police Lt. Col. Samson Kimmayong was replaced byPolice Lt. Col. Rodelio Olsim while former chief of the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) Police Lt. Col. Zacarias Dawsen was replaced by Police LT. Col. James Allan Dugao. Tagel pointed out that what is important is for the local police force to guarantee the safety and security of both the residents and tourists, especially during major crowd drawing events and the elections as the election period already took effect last January 12, 2025.

The police official stated that the transfer of police officers because it is part of the advancement of their career in the PNP and equally competent officers can fill up the shoes of their predecessors, thus, there is a guarantee that the safety and security of the residents and tourists are assured. He rallied the residents and tourists to cooperate with the rules and regulations being enforced by the local police force to avoid being apprehended and charged that can spoil their vacation or their stay in the city. According to him, police visibility is part of the strategy being employed by the BCPO to deter the commission of crimes and ensure the overall safety and security of the residents and tourists.
