BCPO bares barangay drug-clearing report

BAGUIO CITY – Of the Summer Capital’s 128 barangays, 110 are cleared of illegal drugs while four are unaffected as of January 6 this year according to the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) in its barangay drug clearing operation report during the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) quarterly meeting Tuesday.
Representing BCPO Dir. Allan Rae Co, Lt. Col. Max Sumeg-ang reported that three barangays are undergoing drug clearing operations; 10 are re-affected/resurgent; and one is under Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s (PRRD) barangay narcolist.
He disclosed that the unaffected barangays are Country Club Village, Upper Dagsian, Happy Hallow, and Lower General Luna while those that are undergoing drug clearing operations are Pinget, Irisan and Bakakeng Central barangays.
Sumeg-ang said resurgent/re-affected barangays are Dominican Hill, Lourdes Subdivision Extension, Fairview, Happy Homes, Sto. Nino Slaughter, Outlook Drive, Gibraltar, Loakan Proper, Kayang Extension, and Kayang Hilltop while Lower Magsaysay is on the PRRD barangay narco list.
He added that West Quirino Hill barangay was declared cleared of illegal drugs on December 17, 2019, but still awaiting certification.
The council is chaired by Mayor Benjamin Magalong who was represented by executive assistant Benjamin Macadangdang in the meeting presided by city prosecutor Elmer Sagsago. Also present were councilor and SK president Levy Lloyd Orcales and representatives from PDEA, NBI, other concerned offices and agencies including those from the religious sector.
The quarterly meeting was conducted by the City Mayor’s Office -Special Services Division under Noel Mabutas and Briccio Domondon.
The CADAC is a coordinating body mandated to look into and reconcile all the antidrug abuse interventions of government agencies, the local government and private sector in order to formulate a holistic approach in curbing the proliferation of illegal drugs in the city that pose a serious threat to the youth’s future.
