Benguet receives Sinovac vaccines for health workers

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, March 5(PIA) – The Department of Health – Cordillera (DOH-CAR) turned over Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines to the province of Benguet to be given to the frontline workers in the province.
DOH-CAR Assistant Regional Director Amelita Pangilinan turned over 1,100 doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines to the Provincial Health Office led by Dr. Nora Ruiz and Benguet General
Hospital (BeGH) Acting Medical Chief Dr. Meliarazon Dulay and other medical officials and personnel in a simple ceremony in La Trinidad, Benguet on Friday (March 5). Pangilinan said that the vaccines turned over to the Benguet PHO were among the 7,800 doses of the Sinovac vaccines which were delivered to the DOH-CAR on Thursday night.
From the DOH-CAR cold storage facility, the vaccines were delivered to the PHO escorted by the members of the Benguet Provincial Police Office.
Pangilinan said there were 560 vaccines initially given for the health workers of the BeGH which is the lead health facility in dealing with the COVID-19 in the province. However, due to the change of guidelines, DOH added more than 600 vaccines to be given to the different district hospitals and other private medical facilities in the province.
There are at least 12 public hospital and private health facilities to be included in the first batch of the COVID-19 vaccines.
Aside from the medical health workers, non-medical staff such as ambulance drivers, janitors, and other utility workers are among those identified to be given the first batch of the Sinovac. she said.
Meanwhile, medical staff and other personnel of the BeGH led by Dr. Dulay with the members of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station conducted a simulation exercise for the vaccination to be held in the health facility starting on March 6.
