Benguet Veggie Traders Reach Out Over 3 Tons Of Veggies To Taal Victims

La Trinidad, Benguet (January 16, 2020) — Vegetable farmers and traders of Benguet are again reaching out to victims of Taal volcano by donating their vegetable produce.
Augusta Balanoy of the League of Associations in the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post said their members decided to donate more than 30,000 kilograms of assorted vegetables. She hopes such simple tokens can bring relief in any way to the people of Batangas especially those who are most hit by the calamity.
This is not the first time that the league donated vegetables. December last year, the vegetable farmers and traders gave an early Christmas gift to their fellow Cordillerans in Apayao province who were devastated by the floods and landslides brought by heavy rains due to typhoons “Quiel” and “Ramon”.
Tons of assorted vegetables and non-vegetable items went to the people of Apayao. Balanoy said that the vegetables are for delivery to Batangas on Sunday, January 18, 2020. She said that the Department of Agriculture (DA) Cordillera will be lending its truck for the delivery.
Balanoy added that a van will also be utilized to bring also some toiletries to the victims. Local folks in Sagada, Mt. Province together with their local government unit (LGU) also just sent their second batch of donations of sayote (chayote) and other vegetables to Batangas.
