Bernos finishes 16 day isolation due to Covid

Abra Gov. Jocelyn Bernos has finished her 16 day isolation and is eager to get back to work. “I will see you in a few days.” That was her latest post on her Facebook wall as she expressed optimism in getting back to work as she wrote: Bernos said that she is awaiting the result of her two consecutive PCR tests “to be sure I won’t add harm to everyone back home,…”
She added “we continue to pray for the people who are fighting strong against the virus.”
The governor said that she did not ask for special treatment when she was diagnosed positive of Covid-19 last March 13 and instead waited for four days at the emergency room since she was number “29 on the waitlist for a room…” She stayed for five days at a private Covid room and seven days at her brother’s home “as my isolation facility for a total of 16 days.”
She further wrote “I don’t have a story to tell.. my experience with this deadly virus reconfirms the importance of not taking anything for granted. I am one of the lucky ones, I am a covid-19 survivor.”
The days leading to her hospitalization after testing positive were hectic as she led government officials attend to the rollout of the first two batches of Covid-19 vaccines. Then she led government officials in the somber celebration of the province’s 104th foundation on March 9 that was highlighted with a mass and gift giving to elderlies in the capital town and later to the 26 other municipalities of the province.
On March 12, she tested positive for a rapid antigen test and had to undergo RT-PCR test for confirmation with the result coming in the next day.
She earlier wrote: “I know that because of my job, the possibility of getting the virus is very high. “Eto na (y)un (This is it). That day has come.” She added: “For those who still don’t believe that the virus is real, I hope that soon enough, you will believe it exists and that we all have to be careful. Please take care of yourselves.” Bernos will be going back to work during the Holy Week, with a new x-ray machine that arrived during her last days in isolation.
Last Friday, she also commended members of the Provincial Peace and Order Council, the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council and Provincial Task Force on Edning Local Communist Armed Conflict via Zoom.
Congressman Joseph Bernos tested positive last week as Abra’s top two officials were infected with the virus, the only officials in the region to have suffered from it even as the province is dead last in the number of cases.
