In an effort to enhance the preparedness and emergency response skills of young individuals, the Municipal Risk Reduction Management Office (MRRMO) conducted a Basic First Aid Training for the Boy and Girl Scouts of Balili Elementary School La Trinidad on Feb. 8, 2025. The event aimed to equip scouts with essential life-saving skills and knowledge in handling medical emergencies. The training session covered fundamental first aid techniques,
including wound care, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and bandaging.
Certified instructors from the MDRRMO provided hands-on demonstrations and interactive discussions to ensure that the scouts fully understood each procedure. “By educating the Boy and Girl Scouts on basic first aid, we are not only preparing them to assist in times of crisis but also fostering a culture of preparedness and community service.” said one of the volunteers from the MDRRMO – La Trinidad.. Scout leaders and some baranggay officials lauded the initiative, highlighting the significance of first aid knowledge in promoting safety and well-being.
The event concluded with a message from the school head who was present during the training acknowledging the scouts’ participation and commitment to learning essential emergency response techniques. The MDRRMO continues to advocate for disaster preparedness and community resilience through various training programs, ensuring that more individuals, especially the youth, are equipped to respond to emergencies effectively. Future collaborations with the scouting movement are being planned to further enhance their skills in disaster risk reduction and emergency response.
