Baguio Tourism Council Chairman Vergara Report
BAGUIO CITY
Baguio Tourism Council (BTC) Chairman Gladys Vergara said the council is committed to steer the city tourism sector through carefully ,strategic and innovative activities, marketing efforts and in depth planning. And active collaboration with key tourism industry stakeholders, stressing the group’s critical role in leading the resurgence and revitalization of the city tourism industry. Vergara, who led Stakeholders Assembly on Saturday (Sept 21) held at Baguio Convention Center, expressed her gratitude and gave credit to the board of directors as well as members of the different sectors for their steadfastness , active participation and hard work , leading to a number of awards and recognitions for the council.
This year , some of BTC’s initial works and initiatives include— Tourism Development Planning; Inclusive Tourism Development in Barangays; Baguio Resilient Tourism Project; Endorsement of ‘An Enchanting Baguio Chrismr by the Embassy of Poland; and Mangan Taku Cordillera Food Fair,among others. Also for the past years, Vergara reported that BTC through its sectoral groups undertook several works:
ENTREPRENEURSHIP- conducted a seminar on business process in relation to easy of doing business.
BUSINESS AND PERMIT Collarated with Business and Licensing Division- City Planning and Development Office; Classification of Restaurant and Cafes; Travel and Tourism Agents-Tour Operators/ Guides; and Van Transport Operators. Other initiatives include— Induction of Sub Sectoral Representatives and Deputies;Unveiling of Blueming Burnham Lake; Cinema Rehiyon -Montanosa Film Festival;Cordillera Creative Tour Exhanges, among others.
Meanwhile, before the stakeholders assembly, the BTC honored members of the local media by awarding Plaque of Recognition for their contributions in the development of tourism in the city. Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan gave an inspirational message.Councilors Lulu Tabanda, Lilia Aromin Farinas and Mylene Yaranon also graced the activity.
