Cab driver cheats death after dawn robbery in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY (August 24, 2021)— A taxi cab driver is now recovering from knife wounds at a hospital moments after he was stabbed several
times past 12:00 AM Tuesday along P. Burgos area, Barangay Lower Magsaysay, here.
Joel Toralde Mangisel, 40, native of Manila but has since lived  in Baguio City narrated that a woman and two men flagged him along Magsaysay Avenue at Barangay Lower Magsaysay and told him to bring them to Harrison Road.
When they reached the supposed destination, they told Mangisel to drop them at Mabini Street.  Though when they arrived at Mabini Street, the suspects again asked the cab driver to bring them back at Lower Magsaysay.
Upon arriving at Lower Magsaysay particularly at P. Burgos St. , one of the suspects began stabbing Mangisel with a still unknown sharp object.
He tried to block the blows with both hands prompting him to lose control of the taxicab and rammed into an electric post.
The suspects grabbed the P3,000 collection of the driver and also carted away with the taxicab’s dash camera memory card.
The victim sustained stab wounds on both hands.
Police has launched an investigation on the harrowing incident.
