CAR Anti-insurgency Task Force Endorses P160-M Projects To DBM

BAGUIO CITY (March 19, 2021) —  The Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) in the Cordillera has endorsed priority programs and projects of the identified cleared barangays under the FY 2021 Local Government Support Fund-Support to the Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP).
During Wednesday this week’s First Quarter meeting of the regional task force, six barangays in Abra,  one each in Kalinga and Mt. Province considered already cleared of communist rebel threat were included in the list of identified barangays under the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Local Budget Circular (LBC) No. 135, s. 2021.
Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) for Cordillera and agriculture chief William Dar enjoined members of the RTF-ELCAC to continue supportin efforts to effectively address issues and development in these barangays which are being exploited by communist guerillas.
Of the P160-M earmarked for the eight barangays, P108 million was allocated for Farm to Market Roads; P25 million for Water and Sanitation Systems; P17 million for School Buildings; P8 million for Health Stations and P2 million for Agricultural, Livelihood, and Technical Vocational Training/Projects.
“We came into this task together in support of the national government’s massive campaign for sustainable development of the rural areas especially in barangays impoverished by the malignant presence of the CTGs (communist terrorist groups),” Dar said.
“We seek to pursue our goals and objectives by bringing the government closer to the people and allowing them to actively participate in governance and community pursuits that affect them.”
According to DILG-Cordillera office in charge Araceli San Jose, the appropriated amount of PP16,440,000,000.00 will be used for the implementation of various support programs of the 822 cleared barangays around the country from 2016 to 2019.
“Let us ensure that the priority projects funded under the 2021 LGSF-SBDP of the eight barangays are implemented promptly and properly so that the communities will benefit immediately,” she explained.
