Case-Finding on Leprosy

La Union Provincial Health Office (PHO) staff composed of nurses and a medical technologist together with Aringay Municipal Health Office (MHO) staff conducted an active case finding of Leprosy in Barangay San Antonio in Aringay on May 29, 2019, aiming to improve reporting and enhance data collection in order to reveal hidden cases and to identify leprosy cases missed by recent detection efforts.
During the activity, a visual inspection of a 66 year old male, was identified to be a positive patient, revealed the appearance of skin lesions that are lighter than his normal skin, had red, drooping eyelids and difficulty of closing his left eye, as well as deformities on his upper and lower extremities including his buttocks.
