City adds more Covid-19 vaccination sites

BAGUIO CITY – While the city government awaits the arrival of lifesaving coronavirus disease 2019 vaccines, it continues to bolster the number of vaccination sites as part of its vaccine deployment and immunization action plan.
In Tuesday’s management committee meeting of city officials at Baguio Convention Center led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong, health services offices (HSO) head Dr. Rowena Galpo said that other than the University of Baguio gymnasium, three more field vaccination sites have been added.
These are: Baguio City National High School; Saint Vincent gymnasium; and CAP John Hay, where each site will cater to residents from specified areas.
Baguio Medical Center also joined the list of local hospitals for the vaccination roll-out, Galpo said, that includes Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, SLU Hospital of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame de Chartres Hospital, Pines City Doctors’ Hospital and PMA Station Hospital.
In line with the city’s proactive stance, more sites are being scouted to further enhance the speed and efficiency of the vaccination process, she said. Galpo also disclosed that as of February 16, the city’s overall covid-19 vaccine assessment average based on several simulation activities conducted and covering various thematic areas is 63.46 percent.
These areas are: Planning, coordination and financing (86.7 percent); budgeting (50 percent); prioritization and targeting (0 percent, still ongoing); service delivery (75 percent); training (100 percent); and monitoring/supervision are still ongoing.
Vaccines, cold chain and logistics are at 63.6 percent; safety surveillance and response (20 percent); while demand generation, social mobilization and communication are at 75 percent.
Identified critical activities are scrutinized and evaluated under each thematic area, she said.
Galpo said that more simulation activities will be conducted to test the functionality of the process and observe what needs more improvement.
