CITY TO EMBARKS P150K FOR ALCOHOL BREATH ANALYZERS, DRUG TEST KITS

BAGUIO CITY

The city government will earmark P150,000.00 for the purchase of alcohol breath analyzers (ABAs) and drug
testing kits, following the approval of an ordinance on third and final reading by the Baguio City Council. The said amount will be included in the annual budget of the city government for Fiscal Year 2024 or any of its supplemental budgets. The purchased ABAs and drug testing kits will be utilized by the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) for enforcing Republic Act No. 10586 or the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving of 2013 and city ordinances related to
driving under the influence.

Councilor Benny Bomogao, main author of the ordinance, said there is a need to address the issue of individuals driving under the influence of alcohol, dangerous drugs, and similar substances, which is penalized by Republic
Act No. 10586. The ordinance has been transmitted to the office of Mayor Benjamin Magalong for signing before its
implementation.
