Comelec, NYC to push through with voter education seminar

BAGUIO CITY – The Commission on Elections (Comelec), in collaboration with the National Youth Commission (NYC) is optimistic in pursuing the national voters education seminar, “KEBS: Know Elections Better, Superfriends,” as a voter information campaign in preparation for the October 23, 2017 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
The NYC calls all probable youth voters from around the country for the said seminar. The activity will be held in the National Capital Region including the different area offices Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Naga, and Zamboanga City.
The Regional Youth and Development Division (RYDD) of NYC will be in-charge for the monitoring and assessment of the campaign during the launch with the aid of the area officers to further toughen the operation nationwide.
According to NYC-CAR Area Officer Rosechelle Rojas, the participation of citizens in political processes is the cornerstone of democracy. When we are voting, we have an influence on every aspect of our lives free access of education to security and economic permanency, she said.
The central emphasis of the event is to involve young people to contribute and take their part in the electoral processes through discussing matters such as the importance of voting and the procedures of electoral participation.
The event will be a soft promotion of a finer campaign that demands for meaningful involvement of the youth in the elections and hopes to tackle its diverse phases namely: registration, education, and participation.
Comelec will be setting up a booth for their “Know Elections Better, Superfriends!” in different universities as an information dissemination medium. Wendell L. Roque, UB Intern
