Creative City preparation 2018

Baguio was declared a Creative City in the field of Crafts and Folk Art by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on October 2017. The City of Baguio joined the ranks of 180 cities from 72 countries all over the world by UNESCO Creative Cities Network. The UCCN was created in 2004 to promote cooperation with and among cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development towards a common objective.

The UCCN covers seven creative fields like Creative Folk Art, Design, Film, Gastronomy (Food), Literature, Music and Media Arts. The goal is “No Poverty for 2030” to the present and future leaders of government and private sectors that sustainable and inclusive development of the city can be realized to make the creative and encourage them to continue innovating becoming more productive, generating more employment, increasing household incomes, savings and more investment.

Provide livelihood to the City’s residents particularly to the underprivileged but skilled members of the society; development programs for our crafts people especially promising young talents; institutionalization of the City Creative Arts Festival; asking a venue to showcase the City’s creative industry establishing Creative Centers; and the need to offer entrepreneurship trainings and seminars to the City’s artists for our crafts people to develop themselves not only as artists but also entrepreneurs.

The creation of Baguio City Creative Industry Council is a must to push through with production, promotion, distribution, commercialization of goods, services and activities of a cultural, artistic or heritage-related nature. The proposed action plan shall be primarily funded out of the City’s Internal Budgetary Allocations in which the City Ordinance will be known as “Baguio City Creative Arts Festival”.

City Councilor Mylen Victoria Yaranon is hopeful that by November this year, the City of Baguio will get to showcase the said Festival.

In the Bible (KJV) Proverbs 12:24 “The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.” And so you have read iKit that all works done by love; there will always be a good reward in the end. Well, it is better to lend help and never ask anything in return rather than lending help grudgingly then the outcome of work is ugly. This is yours truly TIta Ara Katter of 98.7 ZRadio FM that always reminds you “Ti panagkaykaysa, mangiwanwan iti naranyag nga Pagsayaatan.”
