Jhondie Quibol on Wednesday fired an eagle-aided 9-under for a historic 45 points at Camp John Hay course to highlight Eastridge-Primehomes Team 1’s two-day tally of 297 ,a five-point advantage over defending titlist Manila Southwoods (292) in FIL Championship in the 74th Januarius Fil-Am Golf Invitational here. Quibol’s game was marked by an eagle on 9th hole (Par 4), eight birdies, eight even pars against a lone bogey at the 7th (Par ) for his team’s 158 points second round. Contributing also for the day are Ronel Taga-an 39 (3-under) while Rolando Bregente and Bobe Salahog both shot 37 (1-under).
The team scored 139 points in the first round. Manila Southwoods, improved its game, carded 153 points in the second round.Earlier, it had 139 points. Southwoods parbusters who scored for the day are Joaquin “Jet” Fernandez and Shinichi “Shin” Suzuki fired 4-under (40) and 3-under (39), respectively. Enrique Dimayuga (38) while Miko Granada (36). Over night leader,Januarius Private Equity 1 struggled and dropped to third spot with 289 points. The day scorers are Terence Macatangay (37), Ayon Sanchez (36), ,Masaichi “Masa” Otake 34 and Kirby Lachica (33). Both FIL and AM Championship flights will have its rest day today.

Over at Baguio Country Club (BCC) layout, Batangas Barakos carded 234 including its second round 112 for a 1-point lead in AM Championship flight over Southwoods 2 which signed 233. Scoring for Batangas Barakos are Charles Serdenia (30), Eric Escalona (28) while Takuya Kawamura and Gerald Katigbak both with identical 27s.
