DepEd Abra, Benguet welcome new assistant superintendents

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Two senior officers of the Department of Education – Cordillera are now holding new positions. Carmel F. Meris, formerly the Chief Education Supervisor (CES) of the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD), last September 2 took over as OIC-Assistant Schools Division Superintendent of Benguet Division replacing Samael T. Egsaen, who officially assumed his duties as DepEd Abra assistant superintendent on September 3.
During the installation and turnover ceremonies at the Adivay Hall in SDO here on September 4, DepEd-Cordillera Director Estela L. Carino vouched for the qualifications of the two assistant superintendents.
She also thanked them for readily accepting the challenge. In her effort to motivate the two officials in their new assignments, DepEd-Benguet SDS Gloria Buya-ao, meanwhile, said: “Most of the time, we dwell on the best legacy we want to leave behind, but it is also in looking forward to what we can best offer completes the picture of work well done,…”
Egsaen was supposed to be installed Friday in Abra but the formal program was deferred after the province was placed under Enhance Community Quarantine last September 1 due to their rising Covid-19 cases there.
Egsaen, however, has already received his designation and assumption was made official on Friday. He will take over the seat vacated by Soraya Faculo, who was named OIC-SDS of DepEd- Ifugao last June.
