Department of Health – Ilocos Region turnedover one magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine to Governor Roque B. Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital, a provincial government-owned hospital in
Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, to upgrade its services and provide more accurate diagnostic tests to various medical conditions.

The MRI has been proven valuable in diagnosing a broad range of conditions, including cancer, heart and vascular disease, and muscular and bone abnormalities and everyone can avail of its service at the provincial hospital,” Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco stated.

The MRI machine was funded by the health department for ?48.5 million through its General
appropriations Act of 2020 and facilitated by its Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP). The HFEP’s objective is to improve public health facilities by constructing new and upgrading and rehabilitating existing public health facilities and services across the country.
