DOLE ANNOUNCES JOB FAIR CAMPAIGN IN CELEBRATION OF THE 126TH INDEPENDENCE

BAGUIO CITY

The Department of Labor and Employment hosted a Kapihan Sa Baguio discussion announcing the Job Fair Campaign in honor of the 126th anniversary of Independence Day at the DOLE building on June 6, 2024. The Job Fair Campaign will be proceeding on June 12, 2024, for the whole day, on the date of the proclamation of Independence of the Philippines. Prior to that, there will be a pre-registration period beginning on June 6, 2024, until June 11, 2024. This campaign will be held at the SM Baguio Atrium, as well as over 80 participating SM Megamall branches nationwide.

Themed ‘Kalayaan, Kinabukasan at Kasaysayan’, it celebrates independence and history by aiding the youth and future job seekers. The fair aims to provide first time job seekers with an opportunity to acquire government services and documents necessary for job applications. DOLE is partnering with several government offices and private sectors such as the NBI, PSA, PESO, SSS, BIR, PAGIBIG and PhilHealth which will be hosting booths and providing their services at the Job Fair Campaign. Documents such as NBI Clearances, PSAs, SSS Numbers, TIN Numbers, as well as PAGIBIG and PhilHealth applications will be available at the Job Fair. DOLE has also invited over 20 employers to the event which will be providing 688 job vacancies for job seekers to inquire and apply, alongside the allocators from SM.

Romelda Escaño, PESO Manager Designate and one of the panelists during the event, reminds job seekers of several things to note. She encourages job seekers and applicants to come on time, earlier in the morning, if possible, mentioning her observation of an influx of applicants during the later afternoons or nearing the end of the event. Escaño also emphasizes the importance of wearing proper attire during the event. She states that job seekers must be prepared for on the spot exams and interviews, bringing with them multiple copies of their resumes to ease the application processes.

Irene Peralta, SM Head of HR in the region and a panelist of the event as well, shares the principles behind the organization of the Job Fair Event, with their mission to provide employment and that social responsibility is important. According to Peralta, these are the 13th and 14th work life principles of Henry Sy, which they fervently uphold as employees of the company. Pre-registration is currently under way, and DOLE and its partners continue to urge new graduates and job seekers to participate in the campaign.
