BAGUIO CITY
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has officially launched the first leg of its Bagong Pilipinas B2B Marketplace Regional
Roadshow here, marking a significant push to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through digital platforms. The regional roadshow, held at Hotel Veniz Session on Tuesday (May 6) was designed to familiarize MSMEs with the platform’s functionalities, benefits, and strategic applications. The event also provided on-the-spot onboarding assistance, including help with
documentary requirements and professional product photoshoots, ensuring MSMEs have quality images for online promotion.
The roadshow underscores DTI’s commitment to equipping MSMEs for the digital age, recognizing that increased digital exposure can
lead to better income and growth opportunities for local businesses. The initiative, described as a “pet project” of the DTI Secretary, aims to provide Filipino entrepreneurs with greater opportunities to promote their products both locally and globally. According to Program
Manager Maya Arcega of the OTOP PMO, the platform offers MSMEs a digital avenue to connect with potential buyers and suppliers, enhancing their exposure and sales in the digital marketplace.
“This is an online platform that provides digital opportunity sa ating mga MSMEs for their products to be promoted. Hindi lang locally but rather globally.” Arcega explained. A total of 71 MSME registrants have already been assisted by the program. The Baguio event is the first among a series of regional roadshows planned across the country, with upcoming legs in Batangas, Cavite, Legazpi, CDO, Davao, Cebu, Iloilo, Tacloban, and Pampanga. The DTI Central Office spearheads the project in partnership with its regional offices, working closely to address the concerns of MSMEs and ensure effective implementation.
While this is the only scheduled physical roadshow in Baguio for now, Arcega noted that future sessions could be conducted virtually or
organized again if requested by the regional office. To register on the platform, MSMEs must first sign up as users, with the option to upgrade their profile to merchant status, enabling them to sell products online. Guidelines for registration are available upon request, and the DTI is open to assisting interested entrepreneurs with the process.
