Early and dirty politics apparently has begun in Benguet

BAGUIO CITY (May 31, 2021) – Just this Friday, in one of the last stops of the Benguet-wide distribution of financial assistance in Tuba town, Benguet caretaker congressman Eric Yap showed frustration over the involvement of a Barangay Captain in a smear campaign against him.

“I dared him, I dared the Barangay Captain to show proof of his accusations. He signed a letter accusing me of a baseless claim. I called him out and asked him to prove it”, the lawmaker said.

The village leader arrived minutes after Yap spoke to TUPAD beneficiaties to personally explain his side in a closed-door heart-to-heart meeting.

“He confirmed to me that he signed something pero ang sabi niya, hindi daw niya alam ano yung pinirmahan niya.

He swore to what he told us. You are supposedly non-partisan “, Yap said.

“It is very frustrating when you are doing your job right and going the extra mile and helping our people tapos ang pang-counter ng ibang mga tao, paninira. I know who these people are at naaawa ako sa mga taong nagpapagamit at ginagamit nila because this is an insult to them.

“Sabi nga nila, blowing out someone else’s candle doesn’t make yours shine any brighter.

If you have valid claims that will stand the scrutiny of a competent judge, why not go there? Magtrabaho muna tayo” Yap stressed.***Artemio A. Dumlao***
