ECQ- affected Ifugao tricycle drivers receive food assistance

LAGAWE, Ifugao – The St. Mary Magdalene Parish (SMP) here has provided food assistance to 150 members of the Lagawe Federation of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association, Inc.
(LAFETODAI) to help them cope with the effects of the enhanced community quarantine due to COVID-19.
”The transport sector is one of the most affected by this health crisis so when our friends (group of USA-based doctors) expressed their willingness to help, we identified the LAFETODAI as one of the group of beneficiaries of this relief program,” SMP Parish Priest Fr. John Habawel said.
The food packs contained five kilos of rice, one live cull chicken and some dry goods and vegetables. Ding Baguilat, LAFETODAI president, thanked the donors and St. Mary Magdalene Parish for the food assistance that helped to ease the effect of the lockdown that affected their main source of livelihood.
“We believe that God will shower His blessings to the donors where ever they are. Thank you also to Fr. Habawel for including our organization as one of the beneficiaries of this program. We accept that we were hard-up during the health crisis,” Baguilat said.
The priest disclosed that food assistance will be given in the coming weeks to beneficiaries in barangays Luta, Ponghal, Pullaan, Jucbong, Montabiong, all in Lagawe town including persons with disability and solo parents from the donations of same group of doctors.
“We hope also that this program can inspire others to share some of their surplus to those who are in need especially at this time,” Fr. Habawel said.
