Environment bureau seeks community help to protect environment

BAGUIO CITY – The Environmental Management Bureau Cordillera Administrative Region (EMB-CAR) Solid Waste Management Section chief Ricardo P. Dang-iw called on communities to help protect the environment in celebration of environmental month this June.
“Help protect our environment kahit sa simpleng bagay na yong sa generation ng waste, dapat avoid things na mag-generate ng basura,” Dang-iw said.
He also said that when buying laptop, the bubble or plastic wrap and Styrofoam used in the packaging must be kept in a safety hand bag. He added that in any gathering, people must practice to use plates, spoons and forks that are washable as this would help make our community clean.
Dang-iw announced that an environmental summit on solid waste will be happening on the second week of July, tentatively on July 8-12 where participants from the DENR field officers, LGUs, NGOs, line agencies, schools and other partners are expected to attend.
The theme of the activity is “Beat Air Pollution: Managing Solid Waste boards a pollution-free environment”. The goal of the event is to make people aware of issues and solutions on solid waste and to put into practice the knowledge learned from the lectures and eventually extend and disseminate the knowledge acquired to their respective areas.
