FATHER-DAUGHTER ORTEGAS AS “EARLY BIRDS” IN THEIR LA UNION BIDS

SAN FERNANDO, La Union

Former Governor and current La Union provincial administrator Francisco “Pacoy” Ortega lodged his congressional bid in La Union’s second district together with his daughter, re-electionist Governor Raphael Ortega-David Tuesday
morning. “Mapuso at maka-Diyos na pamumuno, i-level up pa natin ang La Union,” the elder Ortega said. The elder Ortega is slugging it out with re-electionist Congressman Dante Garcia, who has not scheduled yet when to file his
re-election bid. The younger Ortega, who foists of finishing her first term as La Union governor in flying colors into her second tenure said she “has more to accomplish and bring to the people of La Union”.

Gov. Ortega-David is facing his grandfather, his father’s uncle – incumbent Vice-Governor Mario Ortega, a veteran politician, who has served La Union in various capacities for three decades, in the gubernatorial race. VGov. Ortega’s schedule of filing his bid against his grand-daughter has not been made public yet. Several months ago, tension rose during a highly-spirited State of the Province (SOPA) address of Gov. Ortega-David at the provincial capitol when the Vice Governor straight-forwardly answered back at his grand daughter’s lament about the Provincial Board’s inaction over very important provincial government development initiatives.
