Flower fest trash to be hauled on ‘no touch ground’ policy

The city will transfer waste on a no touch ground policy, even with the expected volume increase of garbage brought by visitors during the staging of this year’s Baguio Flower Festival.
Amidst the city’s negotiations to use of temporary staging station, Eugene D. Buyugan, officer-in-charge of the City General Services Office, said they will try their best to contain the garbage that will be produced in the celebration of Panagbenga 2018.
Buyugan explained that in the no touch ground policy, the city’s garbage truck will collect the wastes which will be transferred directly to the hauler’s truck which will transport the wastes to the Urdaneta Engineered Sanitary Landfill.
He added that they are more prepared to contain the volume of garbage now compared from last year.
He urged the residents and visitors to be part of the solution and to always cooperate in making the city clean. KRISTINE MAE L. PASYAN, UB INTERN / ABN
