Folayang, 3 Team Lakay members to fight Oct. 30

BAGUIO CITY– Team Lakay stalwart Eduard Folayang wants to bounce back as he returns to action on October 30 in Singapore.
A post by Team Lakay citing ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong reads, “I say that on October 30th a few Filipino fighters from Team Lakay will be competing. I guess I’ll reveal one more fight on the card is Eduard Folayang versus Antonio Caruso from Australia.
That will also be on the main card.” Folayang, the 36-yearold three-time Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) gold medalist, hopes to bounce back after losing to Peter Buist last January 30.
“I have really (need) to get back to my winning ways,” said Folayang after his training session at the Baguio athletic bowl on Wednesday. Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao said that three of his other wards are also seeing action in the Oct. 30 presentation that is bereft of audience due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
“Will wait for ONE’s announcement,” said Sangiao, a former fighter and a one-time SEAG gold medalist in wushu. “Eduard and the boys are really working hard for their upcoming fight,” he added.
Team Lakay was allowed by Baguio Sports Office to have their training at the city’s athletic bowl every day from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Sangiao said they need to sweat out that can only be achieved during a late morning schedule given the cooler climate here.
The use of the oval is only until 10:00 a. m. under the guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force for Covid-19. But professional athletes with upcoming fights are allowed under the Joint Administrative Order of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the Department of Health (DOH), and the IATF, said Paul Rillorta of the city sports office.
