FORMER LAW DEAN EYED FOR A CABINET POST

BAGUIO CITY-A former law school dean here is reportedly being considered for a Cabinet post, according to sources from the inner circle of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Lawyer Edgar Avila, former dean of the College of Law at Saint Louis University is reportedly being considered for either Secretary of Justice or Solicitor General under the Marcos administration.
A former congressman representing the youth sector in the 9th and 10th Congress (1992- 1998), Avila served in the House of Representatives with then-congressman Marcos.
In 2016, Avila was a member of the City Council of Baguio when he founded the Cordillera-based Agila-Mamamayan para sa Reforma or Agila MPR, which also means “Marcos Pa Rin,” as a parallel campaign group for Marcos’ presidential election.
He also served as legal counsel for the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas or PFP representing Marcos Jr., as well as for the Lakas Christian Muslim Democrats party, representing Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio.
