Heroes Wall of Fame moved to another sight at City athletic bowl

Artists may soon start working on the delayed project as the uncertainty when construction begins is over and the walls to be used for some of the paintings had been fenced.
The city administrator’s office through the city sports development office has approved the use of the uppermost portions of the big grandstand. Harold Banario, who made the Team Lakay mural near the entrance of the sports facility, and Ged Alangui will paint the faces of 20 athletes out of the walls near the CSDO.
In fact, Banario has started working at his portion of the old venue but was forced out after a fence was placed before it by EM Sicat. The area is intended to be a depot for construction materials for the biggest project at the sports facility.
CSDO head Gaudencio Gonzales likewise told the artists, specifically Gladys Labsan to work instead of at the topmost portion of the bleachers. Gonzales said that more infra-projects to make the seven-hectare sports facility the premiere facility up north will be implemented soon and may disrupt mural works.
Slated projects at the sports complex are the PhP130 million Baguio tennis courts, the PhP30 million athletes quarter, the PhP10 million
extreme sports facility and the PhP 1 million archery range upgrade. It is also expected that the oval will be upgraded to the standard 400 meter to meet international grade amounting to PhP40 million.
Labsan will undertake paintings of 12 sports legends led by 2008 bronze medalists for wushu sanda Mariane Mariano and Benjie Rivera. Labsan is also slated to paint former World Boxing Association junior welterweight champion Roberto Cruz, three time world karate champion Julian Chees, former Southeast Asian Games marathon queen Christabel Martes, two time, two event SEAG champion Jearome Calica (wushu sanshuo/sanda and muay Thai waikru), bodybuilding greats Nemesio Domalsin, Sr. and Sammy Ayochok and sports patrons Fernando Bautista, Sr., the late Philippine Track and Field Association – Cordillera director and Philippine Volleyball Federation president included as one of the sports events in the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.
Breaking is also the first dance sport event to be included in the Olympics following its successful debut in the Youth Olympic Games held in Buenos Aires in 2018.
Due to this, the DanceSport Cordillera Inc. “will be hosting the 2022 CDF: 1st Breaking and All Style Competition in April.” The event is a one full day of face to face competition where local and national breaking athletes and dance enthusiasts.
