Ilocos RDC approves proposed development projects

SAN FERNANDO CITY – The Regional Development Council (RDC) of Region 1 has approved resolutions for its priority programs for the year as its new chairman, Vigan City Mayor Juan Carlo S. Medina, seeks realization on it for the benefit of four provinces of the region.
“As the RDC chairperson of Region 1, I’m tasked to help for the realization of these development projects that ultimately aim to uplift the socio-economic life of the residents in the Ilocos-Pangasinan provinces,” said Medina in the recent council meeting here.
Topping RDC1’s list of these projects for funding are the rehabilitation and recovery plan for super typhoon Lawin victims in the Ilocos provinces that needs P2 billion; the Agno River Basin Master Plan; the adoption of policy recommendation from the Survey and Characterization of Indigenous Food Plants in Ilocos Norte; and the establishment of temporary facilities for female children in conflict with the law.
Medina said he is also working for proposed projects such as the tourism data generation system of the Department of Tourism (DOT); the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 agency and State Universities and Colleges (SUC) budget proposals; the convergence projects of the DOT and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH); the LGUs projects for funding under the ER1-94; and the increase of the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens.
He also approved the utilization of the planning guidebook for local social welfare office; and the RA 9344 otherwise known as the Juvenile Justice Welfare Act; the updated Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2011-2016 Assessment Report; and the Gender and Development (GAD); Good Governance and Rights-based principles of the successor RDP 2017-2022.
