Effective and efficient education planning by the US government in the Philippines is evident in Philippine history. The US government knew that the Filipinos were never given the proper education equally. Thus, the US planned to establish schools in all strategic areas throughout the archipelago. In this way, Filipinos would be educated, and they could govern themselves without the US intervention. Alas! Filipinos are now educated! They are even well-known around the world who could speak and understand English language aside from their world-class talents and skills. In fact, the US government did never require 333 years just to educate the Filipinos.
Not even a hundred years. Without proper education planning, 333 years would just a nightmare just like the Spaniards did to the Philippines. Nowadays, education leaders can do education planning based on studies or researches. This makes education planning comprehensive in nature and in context. The Department of Education claimed that the K to 12 Education Curriculum was a result of a ten-year study backed up by other related studies in the Philippines and in abroad. Thus, the Philippine government was confident in implementing the said curriculum in the year 2016.
Before launching the MATATAG education program under former DepEd Secretary Sarah Z. Duterte, several campuses around the country were recipients of the MATATAG curriculum as pilot schools. With the positive responses from the pilot schools, DepEd is now confident to implement this SY 2024-2025 the MATATAG Curriculum to primary education and to Grade 7 learners on a staggered basis. This means that the Grade 8 learner will follow the MATATAG curriculum next year and so on for the coming years until all grade levels are under the said curriculum.
Aside from the intervening factors, I like the strategy of the DepEd in which education leaders conduct midyear review. In this activity, the leaders will assess what they have planned in order to identify the implemented and not implemented programs and activities. Through this, the leaders will be able to forecast the programs and activities that they can achieve at the end of the school year. Education planning makes the goals and objectives clear, keeps the organization focused and saves resources from misuse or big lose.
