Importance of joining cooperative

Do well and be good for it is better to be a blessing rather than a burden. Benguet Province Administrator Atty. Noel Ngolod, in behalf of the Office of the Gov. Crescencio Pacalso, said that the government of Benguet likes to alleviate poverty thru cooperative. Cooperation of sharing our resources to others is unlike individualism or the belief that the needs of each person are more important than the needs of the whole society or group.

And now that the assistant of the government is more into cooperative, Atty. Franco G. Bawang, regional director of CDA-CAR, said that one thing of strengthening cooperative is thru seminar and trainings in terms of proper management and governance. This may develop their mentality on terms of unity and lending hands to help and share their blessings. Conducting spiritual services and projects in the community and etc…

This June 27-28, 2018 at Capitol, La Trinidad Benguet, Mr. Miguel Luma-ang, BCDA Manager and BPCDC Chairperson, pinpoint the governing principles and practices in cooperatives. The importance of Cooperative Governance is to create cooperative share holder or ownership value. To protect the interest of the different stakeholders linked to the cooperative to ensure the smooth operations of the cooperative that it may minimize conflicts and misunderstandings. And so the basic elements of good governance are transparency, accountability, and fairness/equity. Transparency is providing true report to members. Accountable is once you have accepted a responsibility you are to be accountable of whatever decision your cooperative has come up to. Fairness/equity implies that the rights of concerned parties are protected.

Yours truly is a member of one cooperative and based on my experience so far, I may say it is good. Why? Because when I get a loan, the interest is only a small amount. And also the good thing is when you save money on a Coop the interest is much bigger compared to banks. Then in addition, according to Atty. Franco, anyone can be an officer of a Coop as long as he/she is a member. Patronage Fund also is a good benefit as long as the member is patronizing the services of the Coop and good payer as well of the money he/she borrowed.

My challenge now to you iKit rather than joining Networking there! Oopppss! Hindi nilalahat, why not try joining Cooperative. Let’s not be selfish and be successful alone hence let us  help one another. In the Bible (KJV) Galatians 6:2 “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” That we love one another for he first loves us. This is yours truly, Tita Ara Katter of 98.7 ZRadio FM that always reminds you “Ti Panagkaykaysa, Mangiwanwan iti Naranyag nga Pagsayaatan.”
