Justice vowed at the wake of 10-y.o rape-slay victim in Benguet

BAGUIO CITY (February 8, 2022) – Benguet lawmaker Eric Go Yap assured swift justice while condemning the rape and killing of a 10 – year-old girl in the province.
Condoling with the family of the victim over the weekend while handing out financial assistance to the parents of the victim, who was found in a ravine in Itogon, Benguet Saturday.
Aside from the financial assistance, Yap also paid the funeral expenses of the victim.
“Hindi ito katangap-tangap. Wala pong puwang sa ating probinsya ang mga ganitong klaseng kawalanghiyaan. Haharapin nung suspect and batas, haharapin nya ang hustisya. Kung anong ginawa nya, he  suffer all the consequences,” Yap said.
The 10-year old girl went missing on February 5 after she was reported to have bathed in their communal bathroom.
According to the police, the victim was accompanied by her mother but went ahead to their bunkhouse.
After noticing her daughter was missing, she went back to the communal bathroom, only to find the clothes of her child.
The victim’s body was later discovered by residents of Ampucao, Itogon dumped in a 50-meter ravine.
“I assured sa mga magulang ng biktima na mabibigyan ko sila ng hustisya. Sa ama at ina ng bikitma, sana maging matatag sila at humihingi ako ng paumanhin dahil gustohin ko man po pero hindi ko na maibalik ang buhay ng kanilang anak,” Rep. Yap added.
The solon also vowed to educate people in preventing this kind of crime in the province and assured that peace and order will be among his priority while serving as Benguet’s lawmaker.
