Kalinga Capital Shores Up Covid19 Treatment Capability

BAGUIO CITY(May 17, 2021) — The second phase of the new 100-bed capacity Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF) in Barangay Agbannawag, Tabuk City, Kalinga starts admitting Corona Virus Disease (Covid 19) patients.
Consisting of 16 units of prefabricated smart houses, the second phase of the P25 million project boosts the capacity of the TTMF by 32 more beds, a development seen to improve bed occupancy rate as the city continues to grapple with a surge of infections that began in April.
The first phase of the project was completed in early April, accommodating asymptomatic to moderate COVID-19 cases.
Tabuk City Health Officer Henrietta Bagayao hopes that the new facility will help a lot in the prevention of transmission within the family and the community.
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Kalinga Provincial Director Max Meyer Adong said the 2nd phase TTMF in the city should be considered a success story.
“Masapul nga maipakammu ti sabali nga munisipyo tapnu i-replicate da,”(This must be told to the other municipalities so that they will replicate) he added.
Kalinga Governor Ferdinand Tubban and Adong commended Tabuk City Mayor Darwin Estrañero and the city government for the effort.
Each isolation room in the TTMF  is fully airconditioned and furnished with its own bathroom, bed, smart television, and soon, the facility will be installed with Wi-Fi connection
Meanwhile, the city’s new COVID testing laboratory, which will be operational soon, also holds the distinction of the first local government unit-operated testing laboratory in Northern Luzon.
Mayor Estrañero said these new facilities are the products of the judicious use of funds from the first Bayanihan Grant to Cities and Municipalities amounting to over P93 million.

“The city government has been unyielding in responding to the negative effects of this global pandemic and we still continue to respond to protect the health and safety of our constituents.”
