LA TRINIDAD RENEWS SISTER CITY PARTNERSHIP WITH MINAMIMAKI-MURA, JAPAN

SISTERHOOD TIES: Minamimaki-Mura Mayor Yoshito Arisaka warmly receive delegation from La Trinidad, Benguet, led by Mayor Romeo K. Salda, on 19 November 2024 at the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo. The visits of the Philippine delegation strengthen ties with Minamimaki-Mura, Japan.

Municipal Mayor, Hon. Romeo K. Salda led the delegation in their recent visit to Minamimaki-Mura, Nagano Prefecture, Japan last November 19. This visit signified the 10th anniversary of the Sister City Exchange Program and to continue this, Mayor Salda and Minamimaki-Mura Mayor Yoshito Arisaka signed the renewal of the Sister City Agreement. Moreover, the Sister City Exchange Program further cultivated partnerships in the following key areas:
1. Agricultural development through technical assistance provided by Minamimaki-Mura;
2. Internship opportunities for young farmers from La Trinidad on farms in Minamimaki-Mura;
3. People-to-people exchanges across various professions, including agriculture; and
4. Information sharing on health and hygiene, environmental conservation, culture, trade, and tourism.

Together with the La Trinidad delegation is the Philippine Agriculture Attaché Aleli Maghirang and Japan
Agricultural Exchange Council (JAEC) Secretary General Toshihiro Shimizu. Minimimaki-Mura is a village located in the Nagano Prefecture and similar to La Trinidad, its terrain is characterized to be a valley with a flat zone developed into a residential area and farmland while being surrounded by mountains.
