La Union Capitol turns into Christmas Village on Nov. 30

SAN FERNANDO CITY, LA UNION – The Provincial Capitol building here and its surrounding parks, gardens and roads, will be filled with lights, decors, Instagram-worthy themes, and fun-filled activities as it turns into a Christmas village starting November 30.
Senior tourism operations officer Arthur Cortez Jr. said the activity, dubbed as “Pasko sa Kapitolyo 2018”, aims to promote the Provincial Capitol as a tourist destination.
“A lot of people, even those who are from here do not know where the Capitol is. So this is one way of promoting the Capitol and reaching out to the people, (and) the families, especially the children,” Cortez said in an interview.
He said that aside from the dazzling lights on the edifice, gardens and parks at the Capitol, they will also set up Instagram stations with different themes, such as “Winter Wonderland”, “Santa Station”, and “Christmas Tree Station”.
Activities such as fireworks displays, and Disney mascot parades, will be held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
“It’s the home of the people of La Union and they are welcome to celebrate Christmas with us here,” Cortez added.
Joanna Guerrero, provincial information officer-designate, further said Saturdays will be scheduled as “Children’s Day”.
“Every Saturday, there will variety shows for children with different performers,” Guerrero said, adding that food stalls will be available, as well as bazaars for food and non-food items.
The La Union Capitol Hill Christmas Village will be open every day until 12 midnight, from Nov. 30 to December 30. HILDA AUSTRIA, PNA / ABN
