Gov. Rafy Ortega-David in Global Youth Summit 2023

SAN FERNANDO, La Union

“I want to thank Governor Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David for her inspirational message. It truly struck my heart upon hearing that she is the first and the only female governor in the 173 years of the History of La Union…She never let that history ruin and compromise her goal for the development of La Union,” says Aivan Kylle N. Niduaza of Magsaysay National High School, Baguio City, one of the participants of the fourth and final leg of the Global Youth Summit 2023 on September 2, 2023 at the SM City Baguio.

Invited to deliver a message to inspire youth from different cities, municipalities, and provinces of the Philippines, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David shared the different programs,
projects and activities that empower the youth sector in La Union. In her message, she brought the audience in a journey of La Union’s past, present, and future, highlighting how the province’s leadership landscape has changed. Gov. Rafy also presented major accomplishments of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) during her first year of leadership and how she personally conquered challenges faced in her candidacy and when she assumed office when she was
only 25 years old to which participants responded in awe.

In partnership with the Global Peace Foundation and SM Cares, the event served as an avenue for the youth to converge and learn from subject matter experts such as Award-winning Journalist
Howie Severino; Regional President of Global Peace Foundation Ingill Ra; Pacific Asia Travel Association Youth Ambassador Nick Chun; Head of Milo Sports Carlo Sampan; World No. 2 Pole Vault EJ Obiena; Department of Health Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Chief, OIC Dr.

“Youth are the leaders of today. We are capable, we are dependable, we are innovative, we are active, we care and love, and most importantly WE CAN LEAD…I firmly commit that La Union will continue to become a province where the youth can prosper, grow, and thrive. A province that will advocate and join the global effort to build a sustainable society, one that will accelerate the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals, one that will make La Union a province worth living in for the future generations,” emphasized Gov. Rafy in her message. The PGLU continues to
uphold the rights and capabilities of the youth sector and empowering their contributions in attaining the different Sustainable Development Goals through #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan.
